RECORD OF A NOTTINGHAM

ALLOTMENT SITE BEFORE DEVELOPMENT BEGINS

ABOUT THIS WEBSITE:   by Sue Marshall and Viv Crump

2014

We are two of a small group of gardeners who rent plots on the Radford Bridge Road Garden Holders’ Association {RBRGHA} site, off Russell Drive in the suburb of Wollaton, Nottingham UK.  The privately-owned Association has recently been granted Outline Planning Permission for development of part of the site for housing and for the remainder of the allotments to be reconfigured.

It seems appropriate that the current status of the site is recorded in terms of its history, its aspect and its biodiversity prior to the sweeping changes that are planned.

The objective of this website is therefore to provide a record of the current state of the site, and perhaps also to add in the future the proposed changes and their impact.  It is not intended to be a fully-comprehensive ecological survey, more a flavour of the diversity of the site.  By its very nature, this is an ongoing project, so please do re-visit occasionally; we are recording recent updates on the Home/Latest News page.

Any comments, corrections, suggestions, memories, and additional photography taken within the allotment site or from the gardens of bordering properties are most welcome.   Please use the ContactUs page.

The majority of the photographs were taken on the Wollaton allotments; the few that were not are acknowledged.
